  • Operation Spitfire STEM Day

This week, our Year 6 children enjoyed an incredible visit to the The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery for Operation Spitfire Day. It was a fantastic STEM-focused experience that brought history, engineering and innovation to life.

Throughout the day, the children learned all about Reginald Mitchell and his role in designing the iconic Spitfire aircraft. They also had the opportunity to test their skills in a flight simulator and take part in a STEM engineering challenge, building and racing Lego buggies.
A huge congratulations to Tomi and Mariam, whose buggy won the competition, and to Macie, who had the chance to dress up as a pilot for the day!

Operation Spitfire Day provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics through hands-on activities while learning about an important part of our local heritage. It was an amazing day from start to finish, and the children, as always, were absolute superstars. We are incredibly proud of them all!
