  • Operation Spitfire 4 Schools

The Operation Spitfire Assembly will take place on Thursday 21st May 2026, and both Year 6 classes will enjoy visits to The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery in Hanley later in the term, with 6S going on Thursday 4th June and 6L on Friday 5th June.

The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery (official website: Visit The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery – Stoke Museums (PMAG) website) is a fantastic local museum in Hanley that brings Staffordshire’s history to life, including its ceramics heritage, archaeology, natural history and the Spitfire Gallery, which celebrates Reginald J. Mitchell and the iconic World War II Spitfire aircraft.

These visits link directly to our Year 6 topics at Hanley St Luke’s, as pupils will be able to explore real historical artefacts, deepen their understanding of local and national history, and see first-hand key parts of the curriculum such as World War II and industrial heritage, making their learning both meaningful and memorable.
