🌟 World Book Day Costume Bank – We Need Your Help! 🌟

Do you have any World Book Day costumes that no longer fit your child? Instead of letting them gather dust at home, why not donate them to our school?

We are creating a Costume Bank so that other children can borrow and enjoy them for future World Book Day celebrations.

    How you can help:

    * Check your wardrobe for any costumes your child has outgrown.

    * Bring them to the school office or your child’s class.

    * Make sure they’re clean and in good condition.

Your generosity will help make World Book Day fun and accessible for every child!

Thank you for helping us spread the love of reading and imagination! πŸ“šβœ¨

  • Holocaust Memorial Day

    Published 01/02/26

On Tuesday, we paused as a school community to remember Holocaust Memorial Day. Throughout the day, pupils and staff took time to reflect on the importance of remembering those who were persecuted and lost their lives, and to consider the lessons this day teaches us. Across our school, discussions and quiet moments of reflection reminded us of the power of kindness, respect, and understanding. We reflected on our shared responsibility to stand against hatred and prejudice, and to show love and compassion to all, today and every day.

It has been a pleasure to see the children’s ideas come to life — from their suggestions shared in the summer term such as comfy seating, calm areas, books about animals, more reading clubs, and a space to relax, chill out and get lost in a book, to helping design and put those ideas together.

We truly hope our new library will be a welcoming place for all of our children to enjoy for many years to come. πŸ“šβœ¨

Mrs Cordon, Miss Jones and Mr Whiston have had a fantastic two days at the BETT 2026 Conference in London!

We spent time exploring exciting new technologies, discovering the latest developments in AI, and looking at innovative tools we can bring back to school to further enhance our curriculum and strengthen our core offer for the children at HSL.

The experience was brilliant and made even better by winning a free subscription to a library book system for our new library πŸ“š — an amazing bonus that will benefit our whole school community.

We’re looking forward to putting these ideas into action!

Staff wellbeing is important at Hanley St Luke’s. Today is often called ‘Blue Monday’ but not at HSL!

To make this day a little brighter for our hard working staff- the lovely Fran from Tropic came in and staff were able to pop along in their lunch break for a bit of pampering. The kitchen staff also prepared a wonderful buffet for all the staff to enjoy.

Remember to take a moment in your busy day to do something nice for yourself whenever you can. πŸ’™πŸ’›
