Forest Schools

🌳 Forest Schools Launching for Years 1–6 this September!

We’re excited to announce that from September, all children in Years 1 to 6 will take part in Forest Schools, an inspiring outdoor learning experience designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

Each year group will enjoy Forest School sessions for half a term, led by Miss G Franklin, on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Year 1 will start the program in September, with other year groups following throughout the year.

What is Forest School?

Forest School is an outdoor learning approach where children explore and learn through hands-on activities in natural environments such as woodlands. This approach encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and a deep connection with nature.

Benefits for Children:

  • Develops confidence and independence

  • Promotes physical and mental wellbeing

  • Improves communication and social skills

  • Inspires a lifelong love of nature and environmental respect

Session Details:

  • Each session lasts 60 minutes

  • Children work in small groups of 15

  • While one group is at Forest School, the other half of the class stays in the classroom for focused learning with teaching staff

  • Sessions are planned and led by Miss G Franklin

In the afternoons, Miss Franklin will also support STEM projects, lead our school podcast, and run additional Forest School activities for small groups.

What to Bring:

To fully enjoy Forest School, children should bring:

  • Suitable outdoor footwear (wellies or sturdy shoes)

  • Waterproof clothing

You may also send spare warm clothes that can get muddy or dirty.
