Sports Premium Funding

As part of the 2012 Olympic Games legacy, all schools receive additional funding to enhance the quality of PE teaching and develop school sport. At Hanley St Luke’s Academy, we are committed to using this funding sustainably to make a long-lasting impact on our pupils’ health, wellbeing, and physical development.
How We Use Our Sports Premium Funding
We invest this funding to:
-
Create sustainable improvements that benefit pupils now and in the future.
-
Increase and improve PE equipment to support high-quality, engaging lessons.
-
Broaden participation by introducing a wider range of sports accessible to all children.
-
Enhance swimming provision, ensuring every child has access to swimming facilities and the opportunity to develop essential water-safety skills.
Our aim is to ensure every pupil experiences high-quality physical education, develops a lifelong love of sport, and has the opportunity to be active, confident, and healthy.
Swimming Data
Our most recent swimming outcomes show strong progress across all areas of the National Curriculum:
- 91% of pupils can perform safe self‑rescue in a range of water‑based situations.
- 56% of pupils can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
- 61% of pupils can use a range of strokes effectively, including front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.
Last year, only 18% of pupils achieved all three National Curriculum swimming outcomes. This year, that figure has risen significantly to 49%.
This substantial improvement demonstrates the positive impact of our swimming provision and clearly reflects the success of on‑site pool access in developing pupils’ confidence, competence and water safety skills
